(1982)
A novel by

On their way from Montana to Wyoming, Chet Ellis and his two cowhand pals stop in Granite City. Chet is warned by a friendly barber to get out of the rough mining town before Al Crossman, the corrupt marshal, finds some phony excuse for arresting him. But when Chet's two friends urge him to have a drink, he agrees. One thing leads to another, and soon the three cowboys are fighting a vicious mob of miners. Then their nightmare really starts. Chet and his friends are not only arrested, but they're taken to a secret gold mine and illegally forced to toil from morning to night. For them there is no judge, no jury, and no escape but death - unless they can dig up a miracle!
