When old secrets return to haunt us…

Following his untimely death, dead detective Kevin Fahey roams the streets of his town, uncovering secrets the living do not know and seeking redemption in other people's lives. When a beautiful and very pregnant pre-school teacher disappears, the case quickly becomes mired in political complications, leading to the arrest of a grieving and innocent man.

Unhampered by such worldly concerns as personal ambition, only Fahey can see that the missing teacher is hiding a violent past, one that involves a local Catholic Church that holds life-or-death secrets within its stone walls. Fahey’s investigation eventually leads him to Delmonte House, a mansion now home to a famous Hollywood actor and his younger actress wife, who hides her surgery-ravaged face within its walls while she endlessly watches her old TV shows and waits to give birth to her first child. Fahey soon realizes that evil and fear have stalked the house before and that someone—or something—is lurking within its halls. Can he placate the mysterious presence and find the missing pre-school teacher in time, despite the interference of a rabid tabloid press and obnoxious reality TV host?

A Walk Among Souls
was originally published as Angel Among Us under the author’s real name, Katy Munger.

About the Dead Detective series: Once a promising cop with a bright future, Kevin Fahey’s self-destructive tendencies led him into alcoholism—destroying both his career and his marriage while ultimately contributing to his early death. Now a lost soul in limbo, Fahey is desperately trying to make amends so that he can escape the lonely world between heaven and earth that he finds himself trapped in. He sees assisting Maggie Gunn, the detective who replaced him, as the best way to start the process of his atonement and, perhaps, one day move on.

The Dead Detective series has been described as suspenseful but also deeply thoughtful and, ultimately, both inspiring and reassuring. It’s a perfect choice for readers who might enjoy unique police procedurals that are more intelligent than your average crime novel—as well as readers who want to explore both the mysteries of life and what may lie beyond.
