John Bemelmans Marciano was born in 1970 and grew up on a horse farm in Three Bridges, New Jersey. Since graduating from Columbia University, he has worked at a variety of jobs, including small-town reporter and computer programmer. Like his grandfather, he is a self-taught artist. He lives in New York.
