Dead girls don't cry.
Ten years ago, Jenny Hawkins and her brother, Casey, were subjects in their mother's experiments in an attempt to stop the zombie apocalypse. Long rumored to be the scientist who released the disease that ravaged the world, Doctor Hawkins desperately exposed her own children to traumatizing treatments that Jenny was lucky to survive. But leaving Casey behind has been a weight around her neck, so when she hearshe might still be alive, Jenny jumps at thechance to find him, leaving behind her devoted lover who would do anything to keep her close.
When she finds Casey, though, he is not at all what she expected. He's been turned. And when Jenny herself is bitten, she discovers the impossible: she and Casey are dead, but unlike the other rotters, their minds are still intact. In addition to craving living flesh, they can think and feel and love, their humanity making the violence they're prone to all the more devastating. And there are others: Thirteen children survived Dr. Hawkins's experiments, and it's up to Jenny to find them and bring an end to the plague.
But not everyone wants the chaos to end. A sadistic killer is stalking both the living and the undead, and when people around her start disappearing, Jenny has to battle her new nature to protect the brother she left behind, as well as the lover who continues to search for her despite all signs pointing to her demise.
