Left an orphan in India, Diana allcott is set on adventure. When she learns that the Dean brothers are leaving on a secret mission to cross India and rescue Lady Anne, daughter of Earl McAllan, whohas disappeared during the mutiny, she hides away in their baggagetrain. On discovery Daniel and James are furious with her, but gradually James realises he is glad of her company, and at last she is instrumental in finding Lady Anne.
