Rena Matthews feels called to take the Gospel to the South Seas. She and her team of highly educated and wealthy volunteers plan to show the world how to spread the Gospel in the most scientific manner. When rough-hewn Travis Winslow volunteers, Rena wants to refuse him, but her father insists she take him along. They set out in her father's yacht, but a storm drives them hundreds of miles off course and into a reef on a deserted island. Much to Rena's chagrin, Travis becomes the natural leader of the stranded group. His experience proves invaluable to the intelligent but untried missionaries.
