The Liquidator follows the changing fortunes of Tony and Josie, a golden couple who start off under the wing of bankruptcy specialist, Geofrrey Pagan-Jones. Pagan-Jones isn't the book's only liquidator, since it also involves the Miraculous Liquefaction of the Magdalene at a Middle Eastern church..This is something of a "state of the nation" novel, but richer and more elegant than that might suggest..there is a wiser and more melancholy sense of transience and mutability.
