A novel by

Mail-order bride, Betsy, is lured to a small Montana town by a prominent rancher for immoral purposes. She shoots him with his pistol, wounding him, and runs away straight into a blizzard. Joel Becher spots her lying by the side of the road, suffering from serious wounds and hyperthermia and takes her home where he and his mother treat her injuries.

When she regains consciousness, she explains her dilemma, but Joel has heard a different story—the rancher is dead, the victim of multiple gunshots, and the suspect is a mysterious woman who fits Betsy’s description. Now Joel faces a dilemma of his own. He believes she’s innocent and is on the way to falling in love with her. But the law is searching for her.

He can’t keep her hidden long, so he must race against the clock to find the real shooter before Betsy is charged with murder. And if he isn’t successful, they may both face the gallows.
