Sylvia Willis Lett was born in a small East Texas town of Rusk. She is a 1982 graduate of Rusk High School and a 1984 graduate of Tyler Junior College with a Computer Science Degree. She resides in Garland, Texas with her two children, Michael II (14) and Courtney "Lexi" (12).
