This is a fast-paced behind-the-scenes account of deceit, romance and revenge that pits detective Josh Wainwright against Clyde 'Mr Magic' Davenport, an eccentric relic of the Golden Age of Rock and Roll. Josh blames Davenport for the murder of his wife, singer Katie Sunshine Josh also believes Davenport masterminded the deaths of other recording artists he discovered, only he's never found evidence. After Billy the Kid Palmer blows his brains out and showgirl Ava Garner is killed at Davenport's mansion, Josh agrees to protect Davenport and prove he didn't kill Ava - in order to prove him guilty of Katie's murder. The body count multiplies as Josh tracks leads that could cost him his life.
