Detective Plum has just returned from Nevada, where she discovered her recent marriage wasn't all she thought it would be. Back on the beat in Berkeley, Plum finds herself investigating the city's denizens when a killer strikes at a local radio station. Detective Plum's investigation takes her into the milieu of old-time radio as she trails the killer of the man known as "Radio Red," Bob Bjorner.
