Kate Lyons was born in 1965 in a mining town in country Australia. She has been writing for nearly twenty years and has had her short fiction and poetry published in various Australian literary journals. A working journalist and part-time lecturer at university, she lives in Sydney. Her first novel, The Water Underneath, was shortlisted in the 1999 The Australian/Vogel Literary Award and was published to acclaim in 2001.
