Ex-coroner Noguchi enters the realm of fiction with a slick, superficial foray into the busy, self-important world of Eric Parker, chief coroner of Los Angeles County. Parker's investigations into the questionable Malibu drowning death of superstar John Duffy put his job in jeopardy but allow Noguchi a free hand with fascinating autopsy descriptions. Unremarkable except for these marks of Noguchi's trade, this should nonetheless attract a following. REK
