Savannah ('Van' ) Leone hasn't been the same since she lost her mother to cancer three years ago. The pocket-sized puppy she's expecting turns out to be a hundred-pound beast that's impossible to train and only responds to Slovakian. Van affectionately names the dog Joe, and together they embark on picking up the pieces of her shattered heart.
