Alisa M. Libby is the author of The Blood Confession and The King's Rose. Drawn to dark characters, Libby was inspired to write about two of the most notorious "bad girls" in history. The Blood Confession is based on the legend of Countess Bathory, who believed that bathing in the blood of virgins would keep her eternally young. Her second novel, The King's Rose, is based on the life of Catherine Howard, the fifth - and unfaithful - wife of King Henry VIII. Unable to ask these women why they made such strange and reckless decisions, Libby turned to fiction to create answers that she found believable and intriguing.

A fan of historical and young adult fiction, Libby's favorite writers include Margaret George, Antonia Fraser, Robert Courmier, Francesca Lia Block, Donna Jo Napoli, and Joyce Ballou Gregorian, among others. Her literary hero is Wilhelmina Harker from Dracula by Bram Stoker. She also is a big fan of David Bowie.
