Chicago nurse practitioner Eleanor Dolan, the driving force behind the Ark Street Free Clinic, is known as the Angel of Ark Street for her dedication to the clinic and the poor it serves. Journalist Joe Reilly, a former foreign correspondent, hates working on local stories. But when he's assigned to write a piece on Eleanor, he's drawn to her despite his cynicism. Then a developing scandal at the clinic threatens Eleanor's work and their relationship.
