Down Town

Beneath the city streets there is a world of magic, if you can only find it; a timeless, enchanted land filled with terror and wonder - Down Town. Separated from his mother in the rush-hour crowd, young Cary Newman finds himself on a strangely empty subway platform. It is the doorway to Down Town - and to a fantastic and perilous quest. In Down Town, the past lives on, from gaslights and the Crystal Palace to the robber barons of Wall Street. But Down Town is threatened by the dark legions of the Grand Kobold van Damm. Cary, befriended by a band of urchins, finds that he holds the secret that will free Down Town from tyranny - if he can only use it before he is hunted down. And so Cary embarks on a strange and dazzling journey down the phantasmagoric world of Down Town.
