The summer solstice is drawing near: tension is already running high between the New Age Travellers, the Romanies and the townspeople of Hungerford when six-year-old Jordon Abbot is found dead. Residents blame a simple-minded Romany lad. Taking the law into their own hands, an angry lynch mob descends on the gypsy encampment... Superintendent Gregory Summers of the Newbury police force tries to appease the locals but it is a mysterious stranger - a lone traveller - who saves the Romany. As Summers discovers more about the life and death of Jordan Abbot, he, too, finds himself becoming a lone crusader, battling against his own demons, a hostile media and the public's hunger for retribution at any cost...
