Ninnyhammer might be known as the village simpleton, but Peter knows there's more to him than that. One day he fishes a strange white stick out of the stream and discovers that it's a magic wand . . . and that it belongs to Ninnyhammer! The magician is so grateful that he starts to help Peter and his family with their struggling farm ­- helping the cows to give more milk and the hens to lay twice as many eggs. But Peter wants to help Ninnyhammer in return. Can it really be right that his friend has to sleep in a hole with foxcubs? And can Peter persuade his dad to help . . . ?
