Kipps has won an Emmy, a Peabody, and an Edgar Award.

His television credits include Exiled: A Law & Order Movie (NBC), Little Bill (Nickelodeon), Fatherhood (Nickelodeon), The Cosby Mysteries (NBC), Columbo (ABC), and Law & Order: Criminal Intent (NBC).

Kipps began writing as a journalist, serving as Features Editor of Variety and contributing to a number of publications, among them The New York Times.
