Ex-lawman Jake Harper was railroaded by a gang who murdered a miner and his wife and stole a fortune in gold. By trickery and "buying off" the authorities, the outlaws went free and Harper went to prison. Later pardoned, he sets out to track down the killers and make them pay. But a crooked U.S. marshal tries to thwart Harper's pursuit, hoping to see him once more behind bars.
