Jacqueline Harvey

Jacqueline knew she wanted to be an author at a young age. It wasn’t until she was teaching at a gorgeous school in Mittagong, called Gib Gate, that she came across her first real live children’s author. Jane Carroll had written several books and to Jacqueline, she was awe inspiring. Jane came to the school for a week as writer in residence and Jacqueline remembers asking her so many questions she thought the poor woman’s ears might be in danger of falling off!But it was at that point Jacqueline wondered, if with the right amount of persistence and perseverance perhaps one day she could be published too. So she wrote poems and stories and plays for her classes.t wasn’t until she took some time out from full time work and moved to the idyllic surrounds of Byron Bay that Jacqueline really put her head down and tried to write something that was good enough to be published. Her husband Ian asked her if she was just going to talk about being a writer for the rest of her life or was she actually going to give it a proper go. It was a valid question and Jacqueline decided that she didn’t want to die wondering.
