Hugh Holton was the only son of a police officer, and after military service, including 7 months in Viet Nam, he returned to Chicago and entered the police academy. He eventually rose to the rank of Captain and began writing short stories and novels. He also wrote a monthly column on the police for Mystery Scene Magazine. His police procedurals often included science fiction or fantasy elements.
