Denver detective Jake McCoy retreats to her cabin in the mountains to try and recover from the shooting death of a young boy. When vacationing Psychologist Nicole Westbrook stumbles upon Jake soaking in a remote hot springs, it is only a matter of time before they give in to the sudden physical attraction engulfing them. Nicole's departure the next day is as Jake's lover and not a stranger. And yet they know that they will never see each other again.

When Jake returns to Denver, a new murder investigation leads her to Nicole, and both women are shocked to come face to face again.

Despite the physical attraction and the gentle tug of love, both women accept that when their case is over, they will go their separate ways... and try to forget each other.
