K-Gr 2A British import that falls flat. When the Peppermint family take an outing on Knitted Owl's birthday, the other nursery toys spend the day cheering themselves by gathering items from all over the house for Owl's "old birthday" (so called because he can't remember his age). While the bright full-color watercolor-and-pen cartoons are somewhat engaging, the plot becomes tedious. Basic conflict revolves around the toys' missing their human owner, baby Lily Peppermint. A full page of text per each full-page illustration conveys this constant theme. Add to this many unfamiliar terms and namesscones, Albapot, raggy-draggyand it is dubious that the Power Ranger generation (who think Walt Disney wrote Winnie the Pooh) will sit through this one.Claudia Cooper, Ft.
