Gay Go Up

(1931)
A novel by

Her real name was Eliza Heron, but her sisters called her Gay Go Up. She was born with the itch to set the world to rights which led her into many disasters. But willing as she was to help others when she thought they needed it, she found it hard to understand those whose needs were real. Like Angus, who loved her more deeply than she knew but whose proposal Eliza tossed off with barely a thought. Set in the lovely Borders country, it is a charming, often hilarious, story of four sisters on a farm where they, like the rest of the household, so often had to struggle against the consequences of Eliza's never ending helpfulness.
