The stone angel sits on an old gravestone in Thornley churchyard. Local legend has it that if you touch the angel's foot at midnight and cry, "Arise Mad Lord Jago!", he'll come out and get you. Alice doesn't believe that, but what at first seems laughable, soon becomes very unfunny indeed.
