The death of a Hip-Hop icon united a love like no other, and together, their affection for hip hop becomes an endless love for each other. Selena and Cory are from two different worlds. Selena is a Latino girl from the Bronx who fell in love with hip hop at an early age. Selena wants to become a rapper. Her mother teaches Merengue, the national music, and dance of their country, and her father is a teacher and educator. Her family is from the Dominican Republic. Her father fears Selena is the victim of cultural assimilation towards Hip-Hop and the black community. She fell in love with Hip-Hop, and her family believes she is shunning her own roots and traditions. Cory is an aspiring and talented rapper from the mean streets of Jamaica, Queens. He belongs to a rap group who call themselves “One Shot.” They’re on a mission to complete their demo and get a record deal. But to finance their demo and studio time, Cory battle raps on the streets for cash and sells drugs for a hustler named Marcus. Cory comes from a musical past; his grandmother was once a backup singer for Diana Ross and Celine Deon. She taught music in schools. It’s 1997, and the death of B.I.G, aka Biggie Smalls, has hit the Hip-Hop community hard. Biggie Smalls fans are gathered in Bed Stuy. The funeral procession will pass through the neighborhood before going to the cemetery. It is the mourning of Hip-Hop's embodiment where Selena and Cory meet and where their journey will begin. Hip-Hop is more than music; it’s a culture. Their addiction to Hip-Hop is one of trials and tribulations. And their love for each other and Hip Hop will be tested as cultures clash, jealousy ensues, bonds are tested, and families become divided. Journey through the eyes and years of Selena and Cory, and find out which is stronger, their love for each other or their love for Hip-Hop. Maybe they’re both hopeless Hip Hop romantics
