Jeff and Karen have bickered constantly since second grade. However, her widowed mom and his divorced dad start dating seriously, and Karen and Jeff join forces to prevent a marriage. Instead, the younger set fall in love, and the older set realize they're not right for each other. The story is enlivened by several subplots: since Karen's mother is a vet, numerous animals scamper in and out, and there is some fortunetelling with Tarot cards for the school carnival. Fast-paced story and likable characters.
