It all started when Melissa Grainger found herself seated next to an attractive man on a plane taking her back to the US after a dream vacation. Though Melissa tried to make friends, he ignored her. After lunch on the plane, he went to sleep, and Melissa drifted off as well. After she got home, at a faculty gathering to introduce the new president of the university, she bumps into the man from the plane and made a flirty remark about finally getting to know the name of the man she’d already slept with, shocking people standing nearby. No one could have imagined the problems this caused for both of them.
Melissa Grainger is pushing forty-five. After a long marriage that had run its course, she is on her own again. With a daughter in college, her immediate goals are to earn her doctorate and then tenure at the university where she teaches. That was before she encountered a stranger on a plane, and a slip of the tongue puts everything in jeopardy.
After ending a long-term relationship that had been going nowhere, Dr. Will Jamieson leaves his comfortable job as the president of a small liberal arts college in Pennsylvania to move up to a more challenging position as the president of larger university in northern Alabama. With nothing in his personal life to interfere, he assumes that settling into the new job will be enough to deal with.
Little did Melissa know that the attractive man she’d tried to flirt with the day she flew back to the United States from a trip to Europe would be the new boss she hadn’t yet met. Only after she makes a flirty comment when she’s introduced, did she realize that her silly statement could jeopardize her future at the university and possibly his as well.
