Title essay recounts the Author's friendship with Thomas Wolfe when both were on the faculty of Washington Square College in 1928. Fisher had been published, (Wolfe proclaimed liking Fisher's work) and Wolfe had not yet published his first book 'Look Homeward, Angel.' Wolfe considered he and Fisher to be kindred spirits. Interestingly enough, Wolfe's literary renderings, remain, while Vardis Fisher's is all but forgotten.
