Mariel, a famous American soprano, suddenly cancels her recitals and flies to Vienna. In the 1980s she came here to study lieder singing with Ursule Kroll, a star of the Nazi era. They've not spoken since Mariel's departure over twenty years ago. As both women confront each other, dark revelations about the past slowly begin to unfold.
