"Dark is the sun" was published after one of the author's "Riverworld" blockbusters - a hard act to follow. Optimistically set on Earth 15 billion years from now, "Dark" is an excellent far future sf adventure. Unfortunately it will never be played out in real life, as Earth won't even be a memory 15 billion years hence.
