The Solid Gold Screw

(The second book in the Man From S.T.U.D. series)
(1968)
A novel by

F W Paul (Paul W Fairman)

After some of the jobs Bret Steele has had, this one looked like a sinecure - with the emphasis on sin. All he had to do was find a circus and stick with it for a while. No sweat on the first part; after all, a circus isn't exactly easy to hide. As for the second, what could be more up Steele's alley than squiring a host of luscious female acrobats, tight-rope artists, and other intriguing morsels of feminity with who-knew-what specialties? that's right, the Man of S.T.U.D. was wrong again! To begin with, the circus had vanished. then other people wanted to find it, too - including Meg and Peg, twin bombshells who got their kicks in truly unique ways, and the usual gang of unpleasant types who seemed to resent Steele's presence. All in all, it looked like a three-ring orgy - but Bret Steele didn't know if he'd wind up as ringmaster .. or inside the lion's cage!
