Space Hostages

(1967)
A novel by

The science is accurate, the problem children up to date, the situation believable, yet this first appeared in 1967. It concerns a group of English children who end up alone in an experimental spaceship, hurtling toward the sun. Actor Andy Crane brings authenticity to the nicely written story. He has a young-sounding voice, not cockney but not upper crust, and reads with lively expressiveness. He attempts a different cadence with each voice the younger children are more whiny, more prissy; the older ones harder and more adamant. Once the children hear a disc jockey on the radio, and it sounds like a disc jockey. D.W. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine
