The Marriage Bargain

No amount of pleading by Valentina Woodville could persuade her parents that she did not wish to marry the Marquis of Stockdale because she did not love him. After the wedding, her new husband told her he was willing to divorce her provided she acted out the part of a devoted wife for a year.
