Initially, it seems impossible to the listener that any of the Cosgroves are capable of the heinous crimes of arson, murder, and forgery, but as Ferrars's mystery unfolds, the Cosgroves become the focus of police investigations. One of dozens of mysteries written under the pen name ''E.X. Ferrars,'' Skeleton in Search of a Cupboard is set in the cozy English village of Ickfield. This is a skillfully crafted whodunit about a family's struggle with old loyalties and new alliances.
