The third book in the wartime series continuing from Tuesdays War and Charlies War. The war is over and Charlie has finally given up chasing after Grace Baker and returned to post-war Britainonly to find out that hes believed to be dead. After being accused of being a deserter, he finds himself entrapped by a shadowy government agent who organizes for him to work with an RAF team monitoring Communist communications. A romantic entanglement with a married woman further complicates Charlies life. Then Charlie is forced to go undercover as a spy within a Communist group called the Rubble Rats. The government calls them the Red Menace, but Charlie discovers a group of hard-working people just trying to get by in war-torn England and finds his loyalties torn. When he discovers Grace Baker is working with the group, Charlie must make some difficult decisions.
