A passionate love story set against the breathtaking Scottish highlands...

Devastated by the death of her mother and constant brutal treatment from the man she thought she loved, Katrina feels much older than her twenty-two years. Needing a complete change of scenery, she agrees to spend a month in the wild, remote Scottish highlands on Balgower farm where she grew up.

Enveloped by her Aunt Belle’s generous — albeit gossipy — hospitality, Katrina slowly begins to thaw both in body and spirit. But her fragile peace of mind is rudely shattered by the reappearance of the debonair Laurence Sinclair, local boy-made-good, and now a famous novelist.

Memories of schoolboy teasing are no match for the feelings the adult Laurence awakens in Katrina. Terrified of another disastrous affair, she does everything possible to avoid him. Then Laurence asks for her help. Is it another ploy to undermine her reserve, or can she really trust him?

Christine Marion Fraser was born into a large, poor family living in the Govan district of Glasgow during the 1950s. Her childhood was spent playing round the depressing grey tenements, but with her great sense of fun and imagination, she never felt that she was deprived.

At the age of ten she contracted a rare muscular disease which led to many months in hospital and her eventual confinement in a wheelchair. Even this, however, did not spoil her huge enjoyment of life.

Christine now lives in Argyll with her husband, Ken. A keen reader and storyteller, she first started writing at the age of five. She is also the author of six novels set on the fictitious Hebridean island of Rhanna, and of three novels about the Grant family in Aberdeenshire. Her recent titles include Wild is the Day, Ullin Macbeth and The Poppy Field.
