About Charles Frazier
Charles Frazier lives in North Carolina, where COLD MOUNTAIN, his first novel, is set, and where he and his wife have been developing a horse farm for the last five years. He has taught in universities, written travel books and had one short story published. COLD MOUNTAIN is based on stories of his ancestors' experiences during the Civil War, handed down through the generations.
Charles Frazier recommends
The Dress Lodger (1998) Sheri Holman "Sheri Holman vividly and convincingly conjures a fully-textured fictive past peopled with strange and true characters." | Cataloochee (2007) Wayne Caldwell "A brilliant portrait of a community and a way of life long gone, a lost America." | To Catch the Lightning (2008) Alan Cheuse "The photography and cinema of Edward Curtis exist at the intersection of art, history, anthropology, and technology. He was an essentially American kind of genius, and Alan Cheuse has transformed his life into compelling fiction that digs deep into the mystery and sacrifice and selfishness of creative vision." |
