A novel by

Phil Moony has a problem. He has inherited his father's cat, Phull Moony, and the cat leaves deposits all over the house. Because of his age, no vet will neuter him and so Phil and his wife Frankie decide to put Phull down. Trouble is, they just can't seem to do it.

When Phull is seemingly abducted from a veterinarian's kennel Phil and Frankie find themselves incensed. They may not really want Phull but that doesn't give anyone the right to take the cat. The couple decide to find out who would want to take the lumpish cat and launch an investigation. To their surprise, as they search for Phull, Edwin Nelson, the vet who owned the kennel from which Phull disappeared, is murdered. Even though Phil didn't like Edwin (Phull's original name had been Edwin), he realizes if he's ever to recover Phull he has to discover who bumped off Edwin.
