As well as presenting for BBC News 24, Gavin is also the presenter of Radio Four's foreign affairs series "Four Corners." He is the author of three novels and one work of non-fiction The United States of Anger an account of the failure of the American political system to live up to the ideals of ordinary American citizens.

He is the winner of a Royal Television Society award for best current affairs programme, and a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts.
