Relentless Passion

(1989)
A novel by

It was a year to the day her husband had died, and all Maggie Colleran can think about is Logan Ramsey, her dearest friend, whom she hasn't seen in months. But this day, Logan has come to town with the express purpose of asking her to marry him. It will not be so straightforward: Maggie's brother-in-law Reese suddenly appears in town and has invited himself to live with Maggie. And Dennis Coutts, Maggie's trusted lawyer, has begun a subtle campaign to seduce her. And now Logan, for whom Maggie didn't know she had stronger feelings than friendship.

She is confused about what she wants and with whom. But she has a newspaper to run. And a cause to fight. She has no time for men, even less time for romance. And besides, her short-lived marriage to her husband Frank taught her that men don't like independent women and that love is fleeting, love can't be trusted, love doesn't last.

Until Logan begins his sensual assault. He's waited far too long, and he's determined to have Maggie this time. But forces are at work to narrow her choices and hem her in: a trusted colleague is shot; her business is torched; her valuable range land is set on fire, things Logan can't protect her from. Things so insidious, she almost doesn't dare to try to root out the truth.
