On Far Island sheep are vanishing and there are rumours of wolves prowling by night, and of the Dark Ones. The arrival of the Oil Company has meant big changes and although the men at the base dismiss the stories as nonsense, Tom Scarsdale is not so sure. Tom knows the wolf-people are real and that they will kill to preserve their last refuge.
