All of Bellehaven is looking forward to the Snow to Surf Race, an 85-mile relay from the mountains to the shores of Washington Bay. Helma Zukas's history as an avid canoeist makes her an ideal competitor. Meanwhile, Helma's best friend has become a murder suspect. And oddly enough, the canoeing races proves crucial when Helma discovers the clue to the killer's identity while running it.
