This title initiates the Gamebook series, inviting readers to be Sagard, 16, undergoing ordeals to gain acceptance to the warriors' lodge. The first trial pits Sagard against a mountain lion, at which point he must decide whether to fight or flee. It's a choice the reader must make at each crisis, thus controlling developments, as in a multitude of other such bestselling play-stories. Gygax is a co-inventor of the popular and controversial ''Dungeons and Dragons'' game; Dille is on the team behind the new TV series, Star Wars. The second title is Sagard theBarbarian Gamebook #2: The Green Hydra.
