(1951)
A novel by

For young Julie Conroy, marriage was a distant goal, and so she could hardly have called herself prepared when dashing young lawyer Valentine Carrell swept her off her feet ans asked her to marry him. Member of an old Virginia family, Val seemed to offer Julie everything she had ever wanted. But when they returned to the family estate-that glorious estae, drenched with the piquant scent of honeysuckle and mimosa-the reception she was accorded was a cold one indeed. To the Carrell dynasty, she was nothing but an upstart, a gold-digger, and they set about robbing her of her newly-found joy. Only Fairfax, Val's young cousin, came to know they were wrong about Julie. But by then she was married to Val and it was too late... or was it?
