Cody's Montana Sweetheart

This is a western romance novelette. It is the story of Cody Thompson and his star crossed love, Bethany Simms. When the American Civil War begins, Cody felt it was his duty to serve. When war broke out between the North and South, Cody was caught up in the rush to enlist. Bethany did not like the idea at all, and let him know in no uncertain terms. She broke off their relationship completely and began seeing other, older men. She did not come to the depot to see him off. Her sister Annabel came.

Rejected, Cody stayed in the Army for ten years. After becoming disillusioned over the Army's actions in the Indian wars in Texas, he decided to leave the Army and return to Ohio, hopefully to rekindle his romance with Bethany. She is not there, nor is her family. Cody's grandmother gives him a letter she received addressed to him.

The letter is from Annabel, Bethany's sister, asking him to come to Montana. She has an urgent situation and needs his help.

Annabel will not tell him the details of her need for help in a letter. Should he travel two thirds of the way across the country, without knowing why?

This is Cody's story and the results of his decision.
