Sexually liberated free spirit Lucinda Washington is a former attorney who has now transitioned into a career as an investigative reporter. She is dedicated to bringing justice to individuals who have been harmed. She is a person with a strong will who battles for balanced scales, yet her urge to pursue justice has cost her happiness. She is a person who fights for balanced scales. Kofi Evans, the charismatic CEO of Ruff House Records, is solely concerned with his money and earning more of it. He has no other priorities. However, he runs across Lucinda, the person whose preconceived notions about him irritate her the most. This turns out to be his deadliest nemesis to date.

As Kofi and Lucinda work through their love for one another while trying to handle Kofi's trust concerns, Lucinda presents them with difficulties. In spite of their initial hostility against one another, they start to have emotions for one another. It begs the issue of whether or not there is such a thing as love at first sight and whether or not the person you despise the most might be the one who brings out the best in you.

The action of their narrative takes place in the middle of Charleston, and it follows them as they manage their emotions for one another and work to overcome the challenges that stand in their way. The need for justice that Lucinda has and Kofi's need for more money lead them into conflict with one another, but if they want to stay together they will need to learn how to compromise.
