Dead Drunk

(1982)
A novel by

The Summer Ball held at the sports' field was always the social event of the City Hospital's year and never more so than when it was organised in support of the Renal Transplant Unit. The evening, which had promised so well, ends in tragedy when Hugo Clinton, surgeon in charge of the Unit, is found drowned in the open-air swimming pool in the grounds.
At first thought to be an accident, questions are asked when an anonymous letter is received and the police are called in. Why does the surgeon's wife live in a strange world of her own, why are his children terrified of him and what part have tensions in the operating theatre played? These and other queries have to be resolved before the reason why Clinton, a tee-totaller, is found "Dead Drunk", is discovered.
